The company entered the market more than twenty five years ago, by being the leader of the given sector up to now. We currently operate in the new and modern warehouse buildings with the total area of more than 60 000 square meters.

Our purpose is to be flexible in providing our services and enable our logistics partners the logistics solutions proceeding just from their business needs, by contributing thus to their business success.

We learn about the business peculiarities of each partner in detail and apply the knowledge, skills and experience obtained within years in creating the best logistic solutions.

HISTORY

  • 1993

    Smarten starts its activities as the wholesale trade company based on the Estonian private capital. The basic commodities will soon be added to the import of food products.

  • 1994

    The warehouse unit at Peterburi tee will be purchased and built. The new warehouse unit enables to operate and provide wholesale company service all over Estonia.

  • 1995

    One of the most important years for Smarten. Smarten reaches the new level at the Estonian market by concluding the contract of exclusive importer with the world’s biggest manufacturer of basic commodities Procter & Gamble. This insures the distribution of certain and well-known trademarks in Estonia.

  • 1996

    The contracts of exclusive importer will be concluded also with the representatives of two well-known trademarks: Fazer and Kelloggs. To prevent fragmentation, the decision is adopted to focus only on the sale of these products which involve the existing rights of exclusive importer.

  • 1998

    Smarten starts to provide the logistics service. The first cooperation partner will be ADT, currently known as Allied Domecq Eesti.

  • 2000

    As a result of rapid growth the need for new warehouse unit arises. The first stage of central warehouse is completed in Liiva centre. The new warehouse operates as the distribution centre, where the goods are completed and sent directly or through regional terminals to the clients.  The mobile GSM-communication based order receipt system MARS will be widely introduced, probably as the first ones, in Estonia.

  • 2001

    S-Marten Ladu OÜ, the subsidiary of Smarten, will be founded which organizes all customs-related operations from the arrival of the goods to Estonia up to their sale in Estonia or export to the foreign countries.

  • 2002

    Insofar as the branches of logistics service and wholesale have much expanded, the decision is made to continue as two separate companies. AS S-Marten becomes 100% logistics company. AS Sales-Star with the main activity being the provision of sales and marketing activities is established.

    The new business name of AS S-Marten will be AS Smarten Logistics.

    AS Smarten Logistics moves to the new logistics centre in Assaku.

    AS Smarten Logistics applied Axapta version Dynamics AX 2009 to continue the development of information system.

  • 2011

    AS Smarten Logistics took the additional storage space with the size of 4500 square metres into use in Tänassilma industrial park, Laagri.

    The quality management system of AS Smarten Logistics was approved by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Limited based on the quality management system standard: ISO 9001:2008.

  • 2013

    The management of Smarten constantly searches for possibilities to improve environment-related activities. For that purpose we implemented the environmental management certificate ISO 14001 to better control, decrease and prevent environmental impact.

    Opening of the first stage of Rukki central warehouse.

  • 2018

    Completion of the last stage of Rukki central warehouse. Smarten has two central warehouses with total of 62 000 m2.

In May 2011 the quality management system of AS Smarten Logistics based on standard ISO 9001:2008 was approved by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Limited.

The sphere of usage of quality management system involves the provision of logistics service.

The management of AS Smarten Logistics has created and applied its management system as the means:

  1. a) for application and certification of processes related to the provision of services meeting the requirements and needs of the partner;
  2. b) for implementation of its operating principles, achievement of quality objectives and guarantee of conformity of services with the ones agreed with the partner and other specified requirements.

The management of the company applies, keeps in continuous order and improves its management system. The information the availability of which is guaranteed by the relevant manual, procedures, guidelines and forms to manage the processes and ensure the conformity of services has been specified within the system.
